Bus explosion in Makati caused 2 people dead, 17 other injured

UPDATE: According to TV reports, 4 people (1 woman, 3 men) are reported to be dead, and 14 other injured.

I was on my way home when a bus exploded along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) just before 2 p.m. this afternoon in Makati City causing at least two people to be killed and 17 people to be injured.

Makati Police chief Senior Supt. Froilan Bonifacio immediately attended to the scene and reported that two people were killed during the blast that happened inside a “Newman” air-conditioned bus with plate number TXJ-710.

The bus explosion occurred close to the corner of EDSA and Buendia Avenue and just near the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Buendia station.

Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay, Jr. said that the probable explosive used was a bomb. Former Makati City mayor, Vice President Jejomar Binay was also spotted to have rushed to the scene.

It is yet to be known what the type of explosive used was. The Makati police are currently investigating the bus explosion.
