Good news for the local Auto Industry! Chinese car manufacturer, Chery Automobile will be building their manufacturing plant in the Philippines.
According to Chery Philippines sales marketing manager Raymond Tribdino, the company will build a manufacturing plant here where it will be building the left-hand drive and electric cars for the ASEAN region.
“We will have a local partner. We will subcontract. We are in the trial phase and we are working out the shares in the company. We are not sure how much the total investment will be, but normally, one line costs more than $10 million,” Tribdino explained.
In return they are asking the government to remove tariffs from Chinese imports, parking lots with charging stations, and lower registration rate.
