Taxi drivers and operators who begin charging P40 flag-down rate before January 21 will face heavy penalties from Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
P3,000 penalty will be given for every violation of overcharging whenever the P40 flag-down rate is enforced before January 21 which is its actual effective date. In the process, the license could be lost due to such violation.
The approved adjusted flag-down rate for taxis will only take effect after 15 days of its publication nationwide—save for Baguio City where local operators had filed fare increase petition.
However, the P40 flag-down rate may only be applied if the taxi drivers and operators adhere to the usage of usage of properly calibrated taxi meter and installation of meter that issues receipts.
